Elina Rotaru
Sustainability Trainer at Clujul Sustenabil | Romania
Being a youngster herself, it won’t surprise you that Elina Rotaru firmly believes in the power of young people to drive positive change, particularly in climate change matters. As a Climate Pact Ambassador advocating for sustainability in her local community, Elina is actively engaged in a project focused on teaching children (and educators) sustainability education by promoting environmental awareness and sustainable practices. Additionally, Elina was assigned the Romanian Youth Delegate of the Congress to the Council of Europe 2024, and she dedicates her mandate to involving the youth in the development and implementation of local policies for a sustainable future. To her it is evident that young people have always served as catalyst for major changes and paradigm shifts in society. What Elina hopes to awake in other (young) people? A renewed sense of urgency and determination to prioritise sustainability in urban development; inspiration from practical strategies and insights to tackle urban sustainability challenges in their own communities; and the recognition that in today's society thinking globally and acting locally is imperative – because climate change knows no borders, which makes it essential for us to unite and address its challenges together.
