Åshild Wangensteen Bjørvik has a rebellious reputation! She challenges established architectural practices with designs that inspire the reuse of material and by pushing clients and municipalities to tackle local social and climate challenges with sustainable urban development. Educated as an architect at NTNU in Norway and ENSAPLV in France, Åshild has almost two decades of experience in the profession. Partner and CEO of Mad arkitekter since 2008, she is behind some of the firm’s best-known large-scale projects such as Kristian Augusts gate 13, the Mad building in Oslo, and Media City Bergen. In addition to being a pioneer in reusable building materials, Åshild augments community- and nature-based design by rousing collaborative high performance teams.
