Alexandra Sußmann

Dr Alexandra Sußmann is Mayor for Social Affairs and Social Integration at the State Capital Stuttgart. Her area of responsibility includes the Social Welfare Office, the Health Office, the Job Centre and the Eigenbetrieb leben&wohnen (ELW). She is also in charge of the department of integration policy, the staff department of the full-time representative for the interests of people with disabilities, and the strategic social planning. Before Alexandra started to lead the department - and with it about 2,300 employees - she was office manager to the head of the State Chancellery in the Ministry of State. There she was responsible for fundamental issues of foreigners and asylum law for almost two years. In between, she was Regional Vice President of the Regional Council of Stuttgart. Alexandra is a lawyer and joined the judicial service of the state of Baden-Württemberg after completing her doctorate on norm enforcement in environmental law. She was a judge at the Stuttgart Social Court and at the Administrative Court, during which time she trained as a mediator.
